A hard disk drive is a fixed non-removable magnetic disc having a large data storage capability. The hard disk drive is the main memory device in a computer system. It uses magnetic storage for storing and retrieving digital information via one or multiple fixed fast rotating disks, known as platters coated with magnetic material. Hard disk failure can be comparatively painless and a temporary event or as devastating as a permanent loss of significant data. There are different causes for these hard drives to fail, from unforeseen mishaps to simple human error.
